Which animals do you want to invite?

Do you want to watch butterflies?
Then plant milk weed, willows, lupines or Blanket flowers..... there are so many butterfly plants.
Each butterfly species requires specific plants to feed their caterpillars. With your choice of plants, you determine which butterflies will feel at home.

Animals and plants belong together.

Do you want to protect birds?
Then plant the appropriate shrubs, trees, flowers, and herbs.
Purple Coneflowers (Echinacea spp.) provide seeds for goldfinches and other birds in the fall (and offer a buffet to pollinators in the summer).
Cardinal Flowers (Lobelia cardinalis) feed hummingbirds way better than sugar does. Mahonia shrubs (also called Oregon grapes) are a good choice for berry-eating birds, like California thrashers, American robins, California towhees, and mockingbirds.  And if you have more space dogwood, hawthorns or oaks are  great options.

And it goes on with wild bees, hoverflies, toads .....

Which plants fit into your garden?
That depends on the region you live in, the soil you have, how much sun is shining into your garden and what is already growing there.

What else is needed?
Nesting structures for wild bees, water for drinking and bathing, space for a bumblebee nest, a shrubby and densely covered habitat for wrens................................................ ... Who do you want to invite?
Silver-Spotted Skipper (Epargyreus clarus) on blackberry blossoms, VA, USA

Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor), IN, USA

This is how I work with you to turn a piece of land into a vibrant piece of paradise:

We look closely at your yard, garden or balcony. You tell me about your wishes and I tell you about the options suiting you and your spot. I present planting options and biological context. Together we create a concept for developing your place into a habitat.
By request I support you in acquiring/ procuring plants and implementing the plan.
